It’s National Employ Older Workers Week (Sept. 18-24), and I hope that I can count on you to help spread the word!

An annual event sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor, National Employ Older Workers Week is a call to action for employers and employees alike to recognize the value and necessity of experienced workers in our nation’s workforce.

By 2014, 41% of Americans 55 or older will be employed, making up over 21% of the U.S. labor force. The Committee on Economic Development indicates that employers give older workers high marks on characteristics such as judgment, commitment to quality and work ethic.

I hope that you will help me spread the word this week. Each day, I will post a different “mission” that I would like you to complete. I will also be showcasing organizations that are doing their part in hiring older workers.

Here’s your first “mission” should you choose to accept it:
