Throughout the country, colleges are creating programs that help boomers transition into encore careers. The profiles below showcase colleges that are training people over 50 for jobs in education, health care, social services and the environment. But they are just a sample of the programs out there that are helping people to move into careers that make a difference.

All of the colleges described below are a part of the Encore College Initiative. Over a four-year span, 40 community colleges involved in this initiative created pathways to encore careers in education, health care, social services and the environment.
