The MetLife Foundation/Civic Ventures Community College Encore Career grant program is only available to accredited two-year community colleges offering associate degrees. Although we aren’t aware of a comparable grant program for four-year colleges and universities, there is a growing interest in higher education as a pathway for encore careerists.
You can access information on this trend from the American Council on Education’s two-year research project Reinvesting in the Third Age: Older Adults and Higher Education, which is also funded by the MetLife Foundation. The project examines how colleges and universities can more effectively meet older adults' education needs and address various factors that drive older adults to postsecondary education to broaden their participation and work with other sectors.
