Kathy Eldon, one of our fellows, just pointed me to their Creative Activist Toolkit, http://www.globalyouthfund.org/2009/09/13/the-creative-activist-toolkit/

Blue Avocado's resource directory might be useful http://www.blueavocado.org/category/topic/resource-directory

Idealist.org published a

Idealist.org published a guide for sector-switchers about a year ago that includes a section on starting a nonprofit organization. Steven Joiner is one of the authors.

I also recommend Thomas Wolf's book on Managing a Nonprofit Organization in the Twenty-First Century, which has some very practical advice on building a board, etc.
