Dear BreakThrough Employers,
Arizona has announced employers who have received certification as "Mature Worker Friendly." I'm curious what your thoughts are, as employers, regarding certification as "mature worker friendly," "encore friendly," or the like.
My initial thoughts are that these programs could provide a good source of free marketing, and allow employers to use the certification logos - so, in essence, these programs can be a win-win for both you (more positive marketing) and the public (more organizations that see older adults as a valuable resource).
Do you know of any other state or local certification programs like Arizona's?
Also, do you see these certification programs as helpful or necessary? Please share your thoughts! Best regards,
Cal

Mature Worker Friendly Certification
Hi Encore Community, Can you ever have too much education. It may be a catch twenty-two half marketing and half educational. In light of the current economy I am sure companies are thinking outside the box to stay afloat. But hey if you are willing to take the time to get certified in something to make your company stronger why not let others know. A great marketing tool but also a great educational piece. What does the Encore community bring to your business? What are their needs? Are they a traditional employee? What are their strengths? Can they be mentors or leaders? I can see so many positives all the way around. Can they be temp employees filling in when a traditional employee may take personal days or sick days. I look forward to the day when companies embrace the uniqueness of all employees from the Encore, to the Mothers and Dads, Part-time, College Students, etc. The dawn of a new day!
