The University of North Carolina Greensboro’s Gerontology Program is hosting a summit: Aging is Good Business: Opportunities for Entrepreneurs on April 14, 2010. Give the economic downturn, many aged 55+ are looking for new opportunities. The upcoming summit will address reinventing oneself in the second half of life and engage in small business opportunities. It is the 5th year of the summit and offers a great opportunity for training in entrepreneurship.

Highlights include:

* Free Agent Aging: Reinventing Ourselves in the Second Half of Life presented by H. R. “Rick” Moody, PhD, Director, Academic Affairs, AARP, Washington, DC
* Entrepreneurship Opportunities presented by Dianne H.B. Welsh, SPHR, Ph.D., Hayes Distinguished Professor of Entrepreneurship, and Director of the North Carolina Entrepreneurship Center, UNCG
* The Surprising Prevalence of Later-Life Entrepreneurship presented by Edward G. Rogoff, MBA, PhD, Professor of Management, Baruch College, City University of New York.
* The New Entrepreneurial Models of Aging presented by David L. Carroll, MA, Writer and Producer specializing in health and aging issues.

2009 Summit

February 2, 2010 - 12:00pm

I am graduate assistant at the UNCG Gerontology department. I attended the summit last year (2009) and thoroughly enjoyed it. I learned valuable information about Aging and Business and made great contacts while at the summit. Fortunately, the UNCG Gerontology Program has posted one of the presentations from last year. To find out more about last year’s summit, I recommend checking out the website: http://www.uncg.edu/gro/aigb/aigb2009/index.html. I’m looking forward to this year’s summit!
