Encore career workshops in Bozeman, Montana
When you live somewhere you love, like I do — Bozeman, Montana — then a career change requires a certain amount of self-reinvention. Over the next two months, more than a dozen people will join my Career Exploration Workshops for midlife switchers. If interest continues, we will meet monthly beginning in September.

Looking for an Encore career in Social Justice
Hi all,
I have been registered on Encore since it started, I believe, but faded when it seemed so slow that it wouldn’t be time well spent. I am still trying to slog it out in the legal field, but at 48, I have a fear that my age might be a detriment when constantly applying for project work. My email address is on my profile, and I would love to hear from people who may be dealing with the same situations with regard to employment, etc.
Thanks,
Steve

Seeking contacts in the Houston area
I’m in the transition period from full-time consulting work to part-time work in areas like teaching at community college, paying board of directors positions. I’m looking for contacts in the Houston area to explore options.
Seeking program development resources within western states.
Developing an alternative occupational model, I am looking for resources and links within potential pilot test markets – west of the Rocky Mountains. At this point, I am simply seeking to track the work of others, while I work on my user profile and strategies for developing and presenting the model.
Specifics?
Can you be more specific about exactly what you have in mind and what you’re looking for? Perhaps we can help put you in touch with some helpful resources.

Re: Western states programs
Terry – Sorry I missed your reply.
I am looking for what I see as a missing piece of the Encore model. Just for fun. I am calling it “armored nano-enterprise”. It addresses problems with the micro-enterprise model, while supporting infrastructure could support social, non-profit and missionary ventures, as well as more traditional “work at home” and part-time businesses.
I see this as a critical piece for seasoned workers that are not ready to build a big business or move back into going to the company’s office from 7-5.
It’s a model that’s designed to build on strengths of participants by networking ventures (such as production, marketing, management and clerical functions) and providing basic office, computer, and communications services.
It offers an alternative to traditional academic and nonprofit employment/voluntarism emphases that appear to be at the core of current national policy and local Encore programs designed to meet needs and potential of older workers.
I am looking for resources that see the hole in these existing programs, and who are interested in finding a solution. I am especially trying to find a viable model for community work space.
At this point, I am looking for resources west of the Rocky Mountains – especially northwest Oregon and Puget Sound areas.
I know I still haven’t offered a clear picture, but I have hopefully provided enough information to guide a response. Thanks for trying to make sense of my earlier message, and responding so quickly.
I would like to thank Terry
I would like to thank Terry for her response. Within 24 hours she connected me with Springboard Innovation. They appear to offer real potential for anyone seeking “encore” direction in social and nonprofit ventures. Internet searches have provided nothing like this kind of results. As a bonus, they were within walking distance.
