There's no way around it: Older adults are far outnumbered by young people in TV series. And older adults doing worthwhile work on television are few and far between.
So I got to thinking whether there are - or ever have been - any older stars on TV doing paid work that is personally fulfilling and helps make the world a better place.
Can you think of any encore careerists on TV?

Or what does it mean if there are not?
Hi Terry,
This is a great question, and after scanning my memory banks for stories like the ones on Encore Careers, I came up empty. Now you've got me thinking about how the "popular mythology" is handling this whole notion of reinventing ourselves.
I think we're ahead of the curve, and that's what makes this so exciting. Encore.org helps people find innovative pathways in their individual lives, despite the absence of such representations in popular culture.
So even though the mass media has not yet offered many or any stories about Encore careers, we can share our own private ones right here on the web.
Best wishes,
Jerry
