David Leopard's 'My Encore Moment' Story

From Law Enforcement to Senior Advocacy and Identity Protection

Richardson, Texas

After retiring from a law enforcement career, David Leopard became a senior advocate, focusing on identity theft prevention.

When I retired from full employment early, I needed to determine what to do with the rest of my life. I became a volunteer and started giving talks on what individuals can do to protect themselves regarding identity theft, cons and scams.

I have given over 100 presentations to over 10,000 people in the past five years. I conducted these seminars for businesses, retirement communities, church groups, civic organizations, etc. I've been on the radio talking on this subject to an audience of over 10,000 people.

As a result of what I have done the past few years, I needed to take this another step. I am presently planning on working with the Texas state legislature next year to pass the Identity Theft Protection Act. I've met with various organizations to support this act.

I've received the following recognition for my efforts: Governor’s Award; Individual Volunteer of the Year 2005; George Washington Honor Medal; Freedom Foundation 2005 Humanitarian Award; Former Agents of the FBI Foundation 2006 Volunteer Activities Delegate; White House Conference on Aging 2005; Former Texas Silver Haired Legislator; Criminal Justice Committee Chairman 2004-2005; Member of the National Elder Abuse Coalition 2006-2008.
