Encore College Spotlight Stories

Throughout the country, boomers and older adults are seeking additional education and training to transition into encore careers. The stories below - real people who needed or wanted to make this move – are just a few of the countless success stories out there of people moving into careers that make a difference in their communities and the world.

Many of these people enrolled in courses at community colleges as part of the Encore College Initiative. Over a four year span, 40 community colleges created pathways to encore careers in education, health care, social services and the environment.
