The Encore Fellowships program began with a pilot of 10 Fellows in 2009 in California's Silicon Valley, supported by the founding sponsors, The David and Lucile Packard Foundation and HP.
Following tremendous success and national interest across the United States, Encore.org (formerly Civic Ventures) launched The Encore Fellowships Network™. The Encore Fellowships Network makes it as easy as possible for independent organizations to start, sponsor or operate effective Encore Fellowships programs in their community or organization.
Fellowship opportunities are now available in programs in Arizona, California, New York, Oregon, New Mexico, Massachusetts, Washington, and Washington D.C. – all members of a collaborative network.
The programs have been supported by a wide range of corporate, foundation and individual supporters and the participating nonprofits. Strategic expansion support has come from the Packard Foundation, Intel Corporation, the May and Stanley Smith Charitable Trust, the California HealthCare Foundation, Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust, Goldman Sachs Urban Investment Group, HP, and the Robin Hood Foundation.
The network of affiliate programs continues to expand across the US, with growing global interest and recognition in the Stanford Social Innovation Review Winter 2013 issue. The first international program, Encore Futures. will soon launch in London, England. For more information, please contact Annabel Warr at email@example.com.
