There is a fast-growing number of boomers in their 50s and 60s who have left longtime jobs and professions for other occupational and entrepreneurial pursuits. These changes have even spawned a new term, encore careers, explored at www.encore.org. A project of Civic Ventures, the website provides information for those who want to transition into jobs that are more fulfilling and help others. Civic Ventures is also supporting colleges creating programs that help boomers shift into encores.
