Big Idea

Undocumented immigrants who are discovered by law enforcement often are arrested suddenly, incarcerated and deported without being able to plan for the management of their property or care of their children or other dependents left behind in the United States. Contingent planning for the administration of their affairs in the United States in advance of deportation would help the immigrant as well as any family members or other affected people – or entities such as creditors – prepare for the often devastating effects of deportation.

I want to recruit attorneys and others who can assist in presenting workshops, giving advice and providing individual counseling in preparing powers of attorney, guardianships, wills and other emergency planning tools.

About L. Patricia Ice

I have practiced immigration law for 16 years, and I have worked with immigrants and others from different countries for more than 25 years. I have prepared powers of attorney and wills and worked in family courts. But until recently I never thought of combining all of these services, focusing on the unique situations and problems of undocumented immigrants.
