As Encore Career Handbook author Marci Alboher has been touring the country, people have been asking her lots of questions about one resource she recommends enthusiastically in her book: LinkedIn. With more than 187 million members, LinkedIn operates the world's largest professional network. It could be the key to finding your encore career, work that makes a difference in the lives of others.
On February 27 at 8 a.m. Pacific/11 a.m. Eastern, Encore.org and LinkedIn will present a free, hourlong conference call on how to use LinkedIn for landing your second act while drawing from the skills and experience you already have.
Krista Canfield, senior manager in corporate communications at LinkedIn, will lead the call. She'll explain the benefits of building professional ties online and show you how to get the most out of LinkedIn, whether you’re new to the site or are already using it. The talk will focus on nonprofit jobs.
Register here. (Registration requires only your name and email address.) Please create a LinkedIn profile before the call, if you don’t have one.
For those of you who want to connect in person with Marci and people moving into encore careers, see whether your city is on Marci’s book tour and come on out! We’re still adding events, so check back if you don’t see your town. In the meantime, please help us spread the word about The Encore Career Handbook, the definitive, easy-to-follow guide to finding an encore. Here’s how:
- If you’ve already read the book and found it useful, write a review for Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Goodreads or your favorite book site.
- If you'd like to work with others on finding your encore, or if you're a career coach helping others, consider starting a transition group.
- If you’re on social media, you can post about the book and the tour. Click here for sample language you can just copy and paste.
Thanks for your support. We hope you can join us February 27 for the LinkedIn call!
