Cooperative Living

I wanted to let you all know about a unique opportunity for housing
just 2 hours north of NY city in the beautiful Hudson Valley. I’m the
co-founder of a small nonprofit called the Common Fire Foundation. Our first
project has been building a housing co-op in Tivoli, NY specifically meant to be
a nurturing home environment for those interested in community service and
sustainable living. The house is set amidst 37 acres and is ADA/wheelchair
accessible. We currently have 8 people living in this beautiful, sunny and
spacious new home. It’s a wonderful group of people who range in ages from 19
to 62 years old. There is a retired school teacher who works
with special needs children, a sociology professor, a student at Bard, an organic
farmer, a lawyer who works with workers, and a teacher (to name a few) . We think this house could provide
a very supportive and enriching environment for people in the Encore Community interested in Making a Difference and living in a supportive intergenerational community.
You can read more about the co-op here: http://www.commonfire.org/community/coopwelcome.html
