Michael Matone wins “Best Tribute Artist” Award on TalentGold

The popular entertainment website, TalentGold has today announced that Rat Pack singer, Michael Matone, has been awarded its special award of “Best Tribute Artist”. TalentGold spokesman, Paul Abrahams, explained that it was the versatility and professionalism of Michael that led to the award. Paul says “Michael is a true professional. He doesn’t just go out and sing – he really entertains. That’s the difference.”This award is given to the TalentGold member who combines the best artistic quality with professionalism and a well designed and populated profile on the website.  It is given in recognition that Tribute Artists combine genuine artistic merit with great entertainment value.  TalentGold point out that, by definition, Tribute Artists are always going to be judged against the greatest.Michael’s story is an unusual one.During the day he is not Michael Matone.  He is Dr. Michael J. Baglino, professor of behavioral science at Everest University, Pompano Bch., Fl.  But at nights and weekends he takes on a whole different persona – that of Michael Matone a tribute singer who is Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin and even Michel Buble all rolled into one.

Although Michael’s academic career is important to him, eight years ago he decided that the call of his music was too strong to resist. He began singing professionally, as well as maintaining his part-time academic career.

Success came quickly to Michael and he found himself in venues such as presidential, senatorial and congressional political fundraisers, Indian casino banquets, and a variety of community events throughout the U.S. As this success developed, Michael joined the popular TalentGold entertainment industry website and is a professional member of the International Guild of Celebrity Impersonators and Tribute Artists.

Success continued to flow for Michael. There was an instant interest in his style of music – Sinatra, Buble, Darin, Jazz, Latin and Italian standards were all enthusiastically welcomed as they found a resonance with the multi-cultural population of the area. He knows and has been photographed with many of the great stars including Frank Sinatra Jr. Michael says that this meeting “ . . was one of the great points in my singing life. I felt that I got to know Sinatra’s music even better through meeting his son. We talked fondly about his father.”

Despite having a successful academic career, Michael was drawn to singing.  Why was this? Part of the answer lies in his background.  He is the son of a professional singer, Sinatra contemporary and U. S. government official who sang in New York and Europe. Music filled his household as a youngster.  Michael sang in everything from the church choir to theatre roles as a character actor.

Raised in New York, he lived part of his adult life in Southern Europe in countries such as Spain, Italy and Greece. Later on he moved to Miami. Consequently, he sings many songs in Portuguese, Spanish and Italian. Married with 3 children and 3 grandchildren he enjoys entertaining them with his singing. In fact, Michael is often accompanied at shows by his wife and daughters as back-up dancers.

Born to entertain, Michael is now a regular at many Palm Beach society venues, performing at some of the most prestigious and luxurious hotels in the United States.

Is Michael happy at living this dual lifestyle? Yes he is. He puts it quite simply “If you can dream it, then it is real.”
