Join Marc Freedman for 'An Introduction to Encore Careers' online

People who come to Civic Ventures’ events or read about Encore Careers in the media often ask for a way to take the next step. This online course is designed to be that next step, regardless of where you are located.
Together with The New York Times and Washington University in St. Louis, we will host four one-hour sessions aimed at helping individuals interested in Encore Careers go from Then to Now.
“An Introduction to Encore Careers” will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Central Time on Wednesdays from October 7 to 28. You can sign up here. The cost is $125.
I’ll be leading the course with Nancy Morrow-Howell, the Ralph and Muriel Pumphrey Professor of Social Work at the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University. We’ll start with an overview of the Encore Career idea and phenomenon, exploring the joys and challenges of the search for a calling in the second half of life.
In the second session, nonprofit leaders from St. Louis will discuss what they are looking for when attracting talent from the encore population. David Simms will offer insights from his own shift from the private sector to lead Bridgestar, a nonprofit executive recruitment firm for nonprofit organizations.
The third class features two particularly thoughtful individuals, Beverly Ryder and Ed Speedling (both featured in Encore, the book), who will reflect on their transition to working on education and homelessness. Rounding out that session will be commentary and questions by David Leonhardt, The New York Times’ astute economics columnist.
The course will conclude with a wealth of tips, advice and resources for Encore Career aspirants from one of the nation’s leading career experts, Marci Alboher, the former New York Times “Shifting Careers” columnist, and Civic Ventures’ own Judy Goggin.
We hope you’ll sign up for journey. We expect the discussion to be as lively as the presenters we’ve lined up.
Editor’s note: Marc Freedman is the author of Encore: Finding Work That Matters in the Second Half of Life and founder and CEO of Civic Ventures, the publisher of Encore.org. Civic Ventures is a nonprofit think tank focused on boomers, work and social purpose.

Getting volunteers for our NZ Charitable Trust?
Hi
I’m a senior who is the founder and director of Common Knowledge Trust, a registered New Zealand charitable Trust. (www.commonknowledgetrust.com)
We are presenting redoing our multi-media resource called The Pink Kit Package (www.birthingbetter.com). This resource is used by expectant parents to prepare for the birth of their child and to learn the skills to work with their baby’s efforts to be born … no matter what type of birth. I know this sounds familiar to most people however, The Pink Kit Method For Birthing Better® is so unique that people are actually surprised they’ve never heard about such an approach.
We need people with time and energy in these skills:
And of course we are seeking funds to redo this resource so it will be accepted by distributors into bookstores.
How do I let other seniors with skills/capital know?
Please visit this so you know what our Trust is trying to do for expectant fathers.
http://expectantfathers.blogspot.com/
And read an article I’ve just had published on http://www.fathers.com/content/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id...
I’ve spent 40 years trying to get a commercial product so that our Trust can then produce a product for expectant women in developing countries. I’m at a loss at how to reach out to seniors with skills.
Help, I need help!
Wintergreen (yes, that’s the name I use. You’ll see my photo on the fathers.com article). Thanks for your reply and help.
