Sponsored by the John Templeton Foundation and The Atlantic Philanthropies, The Purpose Prize® is run by Encore.org, a nonprofit organization working to promote encore careers – second acts for the greater good. Encore.org, formerly Civic Ventures, works to engage millions of boomers in encore careers that improve the lives of others. The Prize awards $100,000 to at least one individual over the age of 60 who is making extraordinary contributions in his or her encore career.
In 2013, Symetra sponsored the $100,000 Purpose Prize for Future Promise, which recognizes an individual whose approach for helping society has the potential to grow steadily over the next five years. The company plans to sponsor another Purpose Prize for Future Promise in 2014.
