Big Idea
Research shows that because low-income parents have few resources, their children are typically less successful academically than the children of families who are more financially stable. I plan to teach low-income parents how to prepare their infant children for school by using sign language adapted for babies, before the children can use words. While increasing parent-child interaction, baby sign language can help children boost their vocabulary, become more alert to their surroundings and become more active in their day-to-day learning.
