Kamal promotes the potential of renewable energy technologies to fight climate change and revitalize the economy through community education and practical demonstrations.

Sajed Kamal grew up in Bangladesh and came to the United States in 1963 to pursue his education. Developing an early interest in renewable energy, he went on to turn that interest into a 30-year career in sustainable, renewable energy education.

Along with teaching graduate-level sustainable development and renewable energy courses at Brandeis University and consulting on renewable energy projects internationally, Kamal is a frequent speaker at schools, community organizations, government committees and conferences. With the motto “Turning the vision of a sustainable community into action!” his most recent project, Solar Fenway, promotes solar energy in Boston’s Fenway community.

Two of the organization’s demonstration projects are at the Boston Arts Academy high school and Fenway Views, an affordable housing building. Kamal makes the case for renewable energy in his most recent book, The Renewable Revolution: How We Can Fight Climate Change, Prevent Energy Wars, Revitalize the Economy and Transition to a Sustainable Future.

“Every day I learn something new and feel inspired by the differences my work has made in people’s lives and the environment,” Kamal says.
