With so many job boards out there, it is understandable that encore career seekers don’t know where to start.
- How many positions are filled through job boards? Is it worth my time to respond?
- Do these boards scavenge from one another, leading to old jobs appearing as “recent,” even though they were filled months ago?

Mark Judge, who worked 22 years in children's publishing before he was laid off, was recommended for an Encore Fellowship after volunteering for 600 hours over more than seven months with Resource Area for Teachers (RAFT), an education nonprofit. Now the California resident is working part time as a paid Encore Fellow for Youth Science Institute while also working part time for RAFT.
"Mark's making less money but is enthusiastic that his Encore Fellowship will help land him a leadership role at a nonprofit," Tory Johnson reported today on Good Morning America. Johnson, who is CEO of Women For Hire, is the workplace contributor for Good Morning America.

While many sectors of the economy are shrinking, health care is growing. And the industry is expected to expand dramatically during the next 20 years as boomers age and increase demand.
The health care industry is on track to open 3 million new jobs in the period from 2006 to 2016 – a 22-percent increase.
Bottom line: It’s a good time to explore a health care career.
“You have a lot to think about, because there are so many types of health care jobs,” says Debra Stock, vice president of member relations at the American Hospital Association.
