Retired teacher Stan Weston of St. Joseph, Mo., is planning to create a local playground accessible to everyone, including people who use wheelchairs and walkers. The trees will not be used for support, but will come up through the deck and house. With playground equipment on the deck and on the ground, Weston’s “Tree House for Everyone” will be available for birthday parties, family outings, picnics and classroom lessons. The project is being spearheaded by Friends of the Park, a nonprofit that raises awareness about St. Joseph parks, and Adventure League, a program Weston developed to offer noncompetative sports activities to people with disabilities.
