My Encore Story

I have been a nursery and public elementary school teacher and music therapist. I took early retirement and became a professional storyteller and musician. I am also a specialist in cooperative games and non-violent communication. Now I’m looking for a third, part-time career. I care more about creativity and curiosity than pay. I like to work with my hands in nature, developing  meditative environments. I like poetry, the culture of storytelling, singing and playing music, and anything to do with the arts. I have performed as a storyteller with a variety of dance programs in greater Phoenix and play Japanese bamboo flute for special occaisions. A few years ago I worked as a creative arts resource specialist at Valley View K-8 school in the Roosevelt School District, but I now live in Mesa and would like to work closer to home. I have also been thru a long period easing my mother into assisted care living and am sensitive to health and aging issues. I suppose I am most interested in "celebration of life" themes joining arts and spirituality. To quote poet W.B. Yeats:

"An aged man is but a paltry thing,

a tattered cloak upon a stick,

unless soul lift its voice and sing, and louder sing ,

for every tatter of his mortal dress."
